Posted by According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), four people have passed away in six different LGAs of Sokoto State as a result of an unexplained illness.
Tozai(12), Tsabre(4), Turba(11), Isa North(17), Isa South(98), Dr. Jide Idris, director general of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), said this during a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

“Regrettably, out of the suspected cases, four (4) deaths have been recorded,” Idris stated.
Isa Local Government Area (LGA) children in Sokoto State have been reported to the NCDC with symptoms including abdominal distention from rapid onset of abdominal fluids (ascites), fever, vomiting, and weight loss. The Sokoto State Ministry of Health notified the NCDC of these cases on March 21, 2024.
While some of the cases involve adults, the majority involve youngsters between the ages of 4 and 13. According to the head of the NCDC, the patients came from all around the LGA, including each ward and community.
He reported that one patient was discharged due to better symptoms, while two others are now receiving treatment at Uthman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
