PDP Chair Ombugadu’s Support Rallies With Group

Indications have surfaced that David Ombugadu, who ran for governor of Nasarawa State in 2023, has entered the race, just as the call for a PDP national chairman from the North Central gains steam.

This follows the recommendation of PDP Frontliners, a party pressure group, who believe David Ombugadu can revitalize and reposition the party in a strategic manner.

Alhaji Hussein Mohammed, the group’s president; Mr. Moses Abidemi, the secretary; and Mr. Dan Okafor, the publicity secretary, all signed a statement yesterday containing this information.

As part of their statement, the group said that David Ombugadu is being drafted into the chairmanship contest as a consensus candidate in both the national and North Central geopolitical zones. They also mentioned that some concerned stakeholders have started serious negotiations to make this a reality.

“David Ombugadu’s dynamic mobilization in Nasarawa state has provided the PDP with the necessary energy and representation, including nine seats in the state House of Assembly, leaving the APC with ten and other parties with five. This, in turn, will facilitate the PDP’s renewed commitment to party values and the much-sought repositioning.”

Despite the ruling PDP’s enormous resources and strength of incumbency, Ombugadu reportedly rallied PDP forces in Nasarawa State to win two seats: deputy speaker of the state assembly and senator.
