Local government elections in Benue State will take place on July 6, 2024, according to the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

Despite this, the Commission has already announced its intention to expand the number of council wards in the state in preparation for the exercise.
While briefing stakeholders in Makurdi on the action plan and calendar of operations for the conduct of the election, BSIEC Chairman Dr. John Chen made this known on Friday.
According to Chen, the stakeholders’ meeting was a major milestone on the road to delivering on the promise of an honest and open election.

According to him, BSIEC acknowledged the importance of every stakeholder’s efforts in guaranteeing the success of the elections.
Dr. Chen extended an invitation to all stakeholders to actively participate, provide constructive criticism, and remain steadfast in their commitment to collaborating with the Commission to ensure that the state’s citizens enjoy an open and honest electoral process.
