The federal government has set aside Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

On Sunday in Abuja, this was declared by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of the Interior, who made the proclamation on behalf of the federal government.

In a message conveyed by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Tunji-ojo extended his congratulations to the Muslim faithful of Nigeria for having observed the holy month of Ramadan without incident.
The minister urged Muslims to follow the example set by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and live virtuously, emphasizing tolerance, compassion, kindness, love, peace, and good neighborliness.

In order to promote unity in the country and attain and strengthen peace, Tunji-ojo asked Nigerians to continue in the spirit of oneness.
A joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration to all Muslims was wished by the minister, who prayed that Allah’s peace, blessings, and favor would be upon Nigeria and her people, as said in the statement.
