Edo Poll Former APC Organizer Switches Party Allegiance to PDP

In the run-up to the governorship election on September 21, 2024, Hon. Ogini Kingsley Topa, a well-known APC mobilizer in the Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State, has switched allegiances to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Topa, a community organizer known as the “ward 1 governor” by the locals, has extensive experience in the field and served as chair of the LGA’s committee for works and housing.

He claimed he defected from the APC in order to back Governor Godwin Obaseki’s developmental initiatives.

According to Topa, who made this statement yesterday, Obaseki’s choice of Akoko-Edo’s Marvellous Omobayo as deputy governor shows how much he cares about the people of Akoko-Edo, who have been politically marginalized despite having the largest council in the state.

The moment has come, he argued, for “developmental politics” to put party politics aside and focus on the welfare of the people.

Those on the state’s margins and those who are oppressed can look to Obaseki as their savior.
