Assault on Ex-Gov. Ortom’s Chief of Staff, Kidnapping of Wife and Housemaid

Terwase Orbunde, a former chief of staff to Samuel Ortom, the immediate-past governor of Benue State, was attacked by armed men who also abducted his wife and house help, according to the Benue State Police Command.

During a telephone conversation with LEADERSHIP, SP Catherine Anene, a spokesperson for the State’s Police Command, revealed that the command received a report on Friday evening from the former Chief of Staff, who claimed to have been attacked on his farm that evening. The attackers reportedly abducted his wife and housemaid and took them to an undisclosed location.

The PPRO reports that Orbunde was also injured during the incident.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 6 pm, close to the Genocide Cemetery along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the capital of the state, according to a close family source that our reporter spoke with.

The individual who did not wish to have his identity published provided information about how the ex-chief of staff to governor Ortom managed to escape with a gunshot wound to his right arm, while his wife Kashimana Orbunde and house help Patience Ogute were abducted by the assailants.

His wife and housekeeper, Orbunde, went to check on the weeding of their land, according to the source.
