Portable declares himself the new Fela as he bags Artist of The Year award

Controversial street singer, Portable Omolalomi has declared himself the new Fela.

The singer made this known on his Instagram page while celebrating his newest achievement.

Portable had bagged an Artist of the Year award at the just concluded Golden Stars Award which was held on Sunday night, June 18th.

“Akoi Grace. Ika of Africa. Kinimah Fajah Trending Artist of the Year. Portable Omolalomi newborn Fela. Wahala musician.

Big thanks to all my lovers outside Zazuu Akoi Million fans”.

In his award speech, Portable had promised to bring home Grammy Awards.

This isn’t surprising as the singer has said countless times that he is coming for the Grammys.

Portable knocked for claiming ‘Zazoo’ deserves a Grammy award

Last year, following the release of his hit song ‘Zazoo’, Portable stated that his song deserved a Grammy recognition.

The singer drew mixed reactions when he took to his Twitter page to declare that Zazoo which brought him into the limelight deserved a Grammy award.

Tackling him, Nigerian Twitter special adviser, Daniel Regha stated that his song is only popular on the streets.

He avowed that Zazoo is not a hit song and doesn’t even deserve a Headies award nomination, talk more of winning a Grammy.

Schooling him, he told him that a hit song can transcend time.

Daniel Regha added that any award Zazoo might win would be due to industry politics.

Recently, Portable blasted Smooth Productions, the organizers of popular Nigerian music awards, The Headies.

This came after the 15th Headies Award was held successfully in Atlanta, USA which saw Nektunez and Goya Menor winning the Best Street-Hop Song award which had Portable as part of the contenders.

During a live session with his fans on Instagram, the artiste addressed his beef with the Headies organizers.

Portable acknowledged that he is human and not perfect. He added that he has been hurt a lot of times in his life he also blasted the winner of the Next Rated award category.

Portable wrote: “I Love It When Life Hard It Means Something Better Is Coming Nothing Pass GOD. I am bigger than the owner of Headies and the entire organizers. I will be more popular than them forever.”

Also attacking Buju BNXN for winning the next rated award, Portable argued that his songs are more popular than that of Buju. He further insisted that he is well known in the streets and also the highest-paid artiste in the trenches. He added that he earns over N4m per show in the trenches.
